Ingollara burns

The Palace of Chorellis lays shattered

M40.171.104 - Imperial Fists overrun in a desperate defense of the governors palace

The Imperial forces holding the last stand on Ingollara, the governors palace at Chorellis, failed to hold back the planetary invasion of the Tyranid xenos brood flooding the planet with violence and hunger.

After years of blood, sweat, tears and infinite gunfire, the defenders of Chorellis had to abandon their positions after what has to be called a heroic, desperate but futile effort to keep this hive world from the deadly grasp of Hive Fleet Manassus...

Project Chaos, Status 2017

En marche, Chaos! Death to the false emperor!

Spurred on by the stunning reading experience of the rabbit hole called Horus Heresy, this year turned into the year of Chaos for me. I got very motivated to paint my forces of the Dark Gods, especially my new found passion, the Word Bearers, my first Horus Heresy love, the Death Guard, and my newly discovered interest, Daemons and Thousans Sons.
Have a look!

Battlefield Terrain!

Fortify our positions!

After having to suffer (or being too lazy/stupid/uncraftsmanlike/clumbsy/<insert reason here>) a lacklustre scenery for quite a while now, I've finally added some decent terrain from Geedub, and battlefield debris from Kraken. They fit well with the Krakenmat, makes quite a difference on the battlefield.

The haunted swamps of Vanquellis IX

Necrons awaken in the Vanquellis system!

M40.171.022 - Imperial Fists discover forgotten tomb below desolated death world

"Again, Nothing, Lord" the crewman stated when Chaplain Caran Furn ordered him to perform another sweep with the long distance auspex systems. "We still have no hint as to where the colonists went, Darellus." the warden stated matter-of-factly to the vessels commander, Captain Harken. His stern face gave no visual hint away to show his opinion, but the warrior-priest knew his battle companion long enough to know his thought process. They have been waiting for hours now in this high orbit position over the swamp world of Vanquellis IX, with the old Astartes making up his mind. The imperial archives were lacking any sort of communication from the planet for years, and the tithe-keepers were growing suspicious, and the subsystem magistra administratum had managed to sway the Astartes to sweep the system on their way en-route.
Just when his lips started to shape an order, the Chaplain knew the time was ripe and read his mind.
"Signal to teleport chambers. Ready Squad Varachez. I will meet you there immediately".
"What do you think you're doing?" the Brother-Captain burst out, half in jest.
"Getting a closer look, as you were planning to order, I assume."
"Not entirely, old friend. I'm joining you on this", the old Imperial Fist smirked, and the ship-wide vox caster transfered his next sentence "All crew on battle stations. Ready Squad Jettar, Hant, Shalem and Venerable Pakkanen. We are making planetfall in eighteen minutes."

The Vol'Yar Secundus incursion

Behold the Dark Gods

M40.170.723 - The primordial annihilator makes its move on Vol'Yar

Tau forces sweeping the system for hidden Aeldari presence face an unholy alliance of worshippers and worshipped as they reach the deathly swamps of Vol'Yar Secundus. Unaware of the dwelling forces, they stumble headlong into a dark consecration of Word Bearers with cultist retinue, Death Guard Terminators, and Daemons of all flavours. The sky shades in impossible colours of darkness and bright pervert shine as the malefic forces desecrate the ground they walk, leaving nothing in their wake.

Chants of long forgotten languages echo over the battlefield
Bearers of the plague engage the forsaken Kroot
The battlefield gets flooded by desecration
Tau Commander and Crisis suits battling the Heretics

The soil of the planet is lost forever as its spirit is purged by darkness.

The Vol'Yar siege concludes

M40.170.501 - Vaerrain falls to the septs

After a long lasting siege, consisting of long range fire support and constant orbital bombardement, the Eldar forces were pushed back into the last remainders of Vaerrain, the former Imperial shrine city of Yol'Var. Ambushes, faint attacks, infiltration and flanking maneuvres held the Eldar forces in the game only for so long, but after months and months of artrition, the Aeldari were reduced to their final stand, where there shattered aspect hosts held the former city centre. After days of shelling, the Tau army made its move and landed a spearhead contingent to take out the final resistance.

It took them hours to sweet the buildings, but in the end, the Eldar held of the attack. When the Tau forces returned for the next wave, all the aspects were gone mysteriously, and the city lay in soulless silence.
